<a href="https://techcrunch.com/2021/04/30/basecamp-employees-quit-ceo-letter/">Link</a><br />Reflection: The CEO of productivity company Basecamp sent out an internal blog post which informed employees that they would no longer be allowed to openly share their “societal and political discussions” at work. Many employees were disgruntled by this blog post, and proceeded to announce that they were leaving the company. About 20 employees (34% of the workforce) have already resigned, including the head of design, head of marketing, and head of customer service. The entire iOS app development team has also chosen to resign over this decision. One employee's tweet reads: <p class="tweet">"After 7 years, today is my last day at Basecamp. I plan on taking a little time off, but if anyone is looking for an iOS engineer, I would love to chat, my DMs are open."</p> This situation has sparked concern, since the CEOs banning political discussions are primarily white males, and many issues being discussed relate to BLM and LGBTQ rights movements. In my opinion, it is important to draw the line for political discussions somewhere, but Basecamp's decision seems particularly harsh and uncalled for.
