Reflection: The Montgomery Bus Boycott was a monumental event that sparked a revolution in civil rights during the 20th century. The boycott of public bus transportation lasted over one year, starting in December 1955 and ending in December 1956. This boycott also caused unrest & contention with white supremacist groups like the KKK; many Black homes & meeting places were bombed and shot at in response to the protest. This boycott also helped put Martin Luther King, Jr. into a central role in the Civil Rights Movement, as he was one of the most prominent leaders in the boycott & the following protests across the country.
