The boycott of public bus transportation lasted over one year, starting in December 1955 and ending in December 1956. This boycott also caused unrest & contention with white supremacist groups like the KKK; many Black homes & meeting places were bombed and shot at in response to the protest. This boycott also helped put Martin Luther King, Jr. into a central role in the Civil Rights Movement, as he was one of the most prominent leaders in the boycott & the following protests across the country. </div> </div>
